Daily Photo #295

Taken an age ago.

Rose in the night

I just liked the colours and the framing to show there was more to the shot than the flowers. The skies at night right now are so tantalising. Need to take some photos as I haven't shot anything in what seems like weeks.

Random things on my desk.

Things on my desk.

A toy lion. I guess this indicates I have a fluffy, frivolous and sensitive side? Maybe not.

What's the time?

IMG_1789

It's Buffy time!

I don't know why but I like this pic. Also, the buff-meister gave me a friendly meow when I got home then proceeded to drink from my water glass, the little monster.

This is the typical sight in a British Summer.

An ice cream van. In the rain. Air con in the office is buggered, like a sauna today. Need to rehydrate.

Daily Photo #283

Tuesday is the most evil day of the week. It's not a Wednesday (you're half way through the grind). It's a no man's land of wrongness and banality.

So, to lift my spirits and to remind me that we're half way through the week tommorrow) and to harken back to that classic telly series of the 70's, U.F.O, here's my homage to that all time cultish TV show.

Yay for girls in pinky purple wigs and silver catsuits!

Blog Rollin'

I'm not sure how but I made the Blog Roll of thisrecording.wordpress.com

I'm rather puzzled but quite touched as these guys know their stuff, wonder how I made their link list? Still, I am most shocked by their action so I'm gonna reciprocate in kind.

Thanks for reading guys!

The articles and photography residing there are stunning. Good reading folks.

Daily Photo #281

I quite liked this one of Linda.

_MG_5653

The over the shoulder shot seems to work I think.

Linda and I popped along to Birmingham Artsfest 2008. I blagged a photography press pass and got close to the stage to shoot this.

Today has been a day of pain, meds and sleep.

Hence the quick and lazy post. And a photo of Linda to lift my spirits.

Daily Photo #274

We popped into Warwick for a wander around today. The weather wasn't too bad considering we were dodging past flash floods and the like yesterday. We witnessed many people's engines get flooded by water and puddles/flooding of at least 12 inches or more in certain instances.

_MG_5664

We stopped off at the museum and went "oooooh" at the Giant Deer (yes, we did have giant deer way back when) and went "aaaahhhh" at the live bee hive thingy set in glass. Linda went "mmmmm" at her toasted teacake and I scoffed a great cheese salad sarnie (or sandwich if you prefer). Good times.

Daily Photo #272

This reminds me of the photos of people's shadows being burned onto walls after the atomic bomb fell on Hiroshima.

IMG_2848

The fact that this is a mosaic of a child adds to that disturbing connotation. There's something about this piece of art on the walls of Birmingham's Cannon Hill Park that unsettles me somewhat.

Comics, Sticklebacks and talented people!

Many thanks to Matt Booker (AKA D'Israeli) for linking to my pics in his Blog entry. He and Ian Edginton are rather talented chaps and if you have a love for comics, please check out their outstanding works :)

I've already blogged my photo for the day but there are more images here if you follow this link...

Daily Photo #266

Good day has been had, involved comic books, a trip into town, a breakfast sandwich, a mango frappe frozen drink thing and a visit from Esther and Paul tonight.

I remember this from a Halloween gone by, god bless our weird and crazy get togethers.

IMG_0741

It makes me think I should hold some kind of Halloween gathering this year. Linda's catsuit collection means we could talk a couple of female friends into some kind of Halloween photoshoot and blog the whole thing live. Anyone interested I wonder?? ;)

Daily Photo #261

I am such a comic book geek. Seriously. How could I resist taking some shots of the highly talented dynamic duo (couldn't resist that pun!) of D'Israeli and Birmingham's own Ian Edginton?

_MG_4937

Two superb stand up guys. Talented does not begin to describe them as they are living the dream. In fact, they go beyond the realms of "which one would win in a fight - Batman or Superman?" and they came across as both genuine and generous sharing tales of how they got into the industry and giving some great advice to those wanting to jump aboard.

Good conversation was had about the industry, photography and the sneakiness of colourists (you had to be there, trust me it was quite hilarious!)

Anyway, off for a picnic in Sutton Park or somewhere now. Laters!

More Big Picture memories

Podnosh is quite the video mechanic! (and thanks for the link from the YouTube page, mate!)

Truly quite a touching moment for the winner.

*Edit - if you see the video, please rate or favourite as it well earn this project and the West Midlands recognition it most deserves*

Cyberwoman revisited

Everytime we pass a tree she has to hug it.

Daily Photo #253

Still feel rough after Friday. I don't think my body is working properly yet as I still feel like I am flying through hyperspace without the aid of a spacecraft.

So, to aid my blood sugar equilibrium, zombie bears filled with honey.

IMG_2651

Must eat more food. Still hungry. Neat vodka is evil when imbibed along with any beers I could get my hands on. Still, it could be worse I guess.

Daily Photo #252

Cat(or)woman?

IMG_0763

I'm at a loss to words today so I'm just going to copy this from my other online journal/blog thing.

Very very very hungover. To the point where I think I am still drunk after stumbling home at 3am with Linda and Joel.

I think we remembered Annie Green yesterday. Many words and memories were shared along with tender moments. Phil and Steve said some very resonant words at the humanist ceremony that took place yesterday.

It was a spiritually cleansing day and I feel a lot more whole today (except for the shakes, the shivers and the loss of focus in my eye sight. How I made it home in one piece I do not know).

Anway, enough of this. I am shivering in my bath robe after a long shower so it's time to get up (3.40 pm), eat something and function like a human being who doesn't look like an extra in "Hobo: The Movie".

Gotta go collect Linda's car from Steve's and drop him in a copy of a DVD that he requested :)

Gotta go eat and try and start functioning like a human being now. Oh yeah, Linda got a new catsuit and we so have to do some photos, it would be criminal not to!

Daily Photo #251

We're off to a funeral service in a couple of hours. I spent a while looking through my stream for something that would capture my mood but would also not be too damn depressing.

_MG_7200

I think this one captures it. The statue against the blue sky is a harsh contrast. Something of the past against something that is timeless and infinite. We're all dashing through life but in the grand scheme of things, our lives are over in the blink of an eye. I'm trying to live mine better. I succeed sometimes and fail on occasion but it's taught me not to take things for granted and I endeavour to find something positive and fantastic in each day.

This afternoon I'll be one of many to say goodbye to Ann. We're there to remember how she enriched people's lives and how she committed her life to nursing alongside being a loving wife to Steve. There will be memories, laughter and tears today.

Feeling a bit better than yesterday. I guess spooky Japanese dolls cheer me up.

They seek him here, they seek him there

So, in a (rare) non photo related post. We've booked a holiday in Manhattan for next May.

Let's hope the £ stays strong ;) Fingers crossed folks!

I've had better days.

_MG_7212

But I've also had worse ones.

Daily Photo #247

I wanted to capture a mood more than an image.

_MG_4670

This reminded me of those childhood days of looking into the sky on a lazy afternoon and how it felt back then. Days long gone but good ones. It was a nice afternoon in between rain showers but the sun bought back thoughts of nostalgia.

Daily Photo #246

We braved the great outdoors and I shot a few portraits of Linda.

_MG_4764

The light was great and we managed to dodge the rain and get fresh air. Hoorah! Now for some cucumber sandwiches and lashings of ginger beer.

*wizard*

How British are we, eh?
